Thinking on your feet!
Many people take their feet for granted until they experience a problem. Foot problems can be extremely painful and impact on your mobility or sometimes be very unsightly.
Common foot problems are ingrowing toe nails, heel pain, corns, verrucas and athlete's foot. All of these can be treated by your local podiatrist / chiropodist. Other problems can be leg, ankle or foot pain, either when taking part in physical activities such as running, cycling, gymnastics and martial arts, or sometimes just when generally walking around.
What's the difference between a Chiropodist and a Podiatrist?
Podiatry or podiatrist is the new term for chiropody or chiropodist in the UK and Europe. Previously podiatry has been the popular term used elsewhere in the world it is now a protected title in the UK. The services provided by either name are the same. We are to feet, as dentists are to teeth!
Only qualified persons registered with the Health and Carers Professions Council can use the protected title of 'Chiropodist' or 'Podiatrist'. Check at http://www.hpc-uk.org/. All good podiatrists will be happy to let you know their HCPC registration number. My registration number is CH32731.
Why use me for your podiatry services?
The podiatrist qualified in 2012, and has been practising podiatry since qualifying. Experience includes working for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS as a Band 6, performing routine podiatry, nail surgery assessments and nail surgery. I also ran biomechanical assessments and gait analysis clinics. I then went to work for the MOD as an Band 7 MusculoSkeletal specialist, focusing primarily on lower limb pain, including foot, ankle, knee, hip and lower back problems. The Podiatrist now works full time in private work, dividing time between clinics in Middlesbrough and Helmsley. Read more about me here.
